3rd Bexhill Toilet review.. It's a 'non-starter....'!

Well..this page could have been blank...the gates were closed + no entry was possible to the loos in Town Hall Square.. This convenience is VERY in-convenient!
Upon asking around it seems they have been shut for several years now. The local taxi drivers are really P____D off (sic) with this situation as its the nearest loo for them to use, (+ their customers). It seems that in the recent past these loos have had serious vandalism issues especially from roving gangs + customers of The Castle pub.
One cheeky cabbie, John we believe, said that the loos are now being used to store ongoing open files RE council tax non-payers..  but we think that's another Bexhill Urban Myth!  They are actually a smoking shed for Sainsburys staff..  butt we may never be privy to know the reality.
So if your 'caught short' in the square people + want them re-opened you just have to pop over the road to HQ (RDC Town Hall) + write a letter.
If you go onto the 'Ask the Leader a question'  for Rother http://www.rother.gov.uk/article/146/Ask-the-Leader
then this does what it says on the tin..
May all your discharges be good ones
Must Fly..

Ps We are a bit burnt out doing all these Public loos just recently, it's hard going.. Someone suggested we have a change + "Do the De La Warr toilets luvvie.. the're really posh..Nice Art in them.."
OK DLWP it is then..Wonder if it's open in the near future?

Channel View.. a peaceful 'Toilet Oasis..'

2nd Toilet review for Bexhill (mens side)
Next up are Channel View ...
We were pleasantly surprised with these toilets..Maybe it's because lots of 'out of towners', + workmen don't realise they are there...
The cubicles are really clean and the whole place smelt really good..(amazingly)
There have been attempts made at a sort of colour scheme, personalisation and who ever looks  after these loos seems to care..
We know they are subject to regular vandalisation but locking the Iron gate to Channel View early seems to keep out the Teenage Hash smokers.. They don't seem to be the problem however, it's adults who have had too much alcohol!
Still one major gripe is again NO changing facility for men with their kids.. we see lots of guys around town now with prams..
Rother this needs sorting out please!
It's not fair that we have to 'dodge' into the womens to change that nappy!
We can recommend this loo to everyone.. As they say.. 'Please leave as you wish to find it..
Must fly..

PS Been 'disapointed, disgusted, or even highly delighted with any loo in Bexhill? Private or public? Give us a bell, well e-mail actually.. + we will give it an inspection.. Gratis

Bexhill Public Toilets.. 'User survey..'

God it's been pretty horrendous on the whole.. We have been to them all recently and here is the initial feedback.
1st up..are...
Devonshire Square loos (Mens side)
No 1 in the shocking stakes..
As you enter the premises you are hit by a nasal wall of faeces, cheap disinfectant, with overtones of last nights vomit and cheap alcohol. Nothing prepares you for this and if you haven't eaten breakfast you bid a hasty retreat..some things are just not worth using this loo for..
Is it the early morning heavy use of this loo by local workmen, + commuters that makes it so offensive?
The harsh neon  lights and cold foreboding nature of the x4 sit down (if you dare) cubicles.. really only for the most desparate.. Obviously no one has thought to put in a changing baby surface, men after all don't do those things..
There was some debate between us as to whether the place was being used as a 'cottage' for meetups.. but it closes a bit early for that particular crowd.
The only 1 +ve thing we could report..we tried long and hard.. was that the toilet paper is now pretty soft, the place used to haave the wonderful 'Medicated Izal' boxes which reminded one of 00 grade sandpaper when using it.. That's if your lucky to find any paper..!
On the whole pretty rough + only for dire emergencies..
When we have recovered we will do No. 2 review.. We think it will be the seafront on Channel View...
Can't wait..

Public + not so Public toilet reviews for Bexhill

Howdy all..as the title suggests we have been 'comissioned' to do a 'Bexhill Toilet' review recently..
We are currently working our way around all the usual suspects! It's pretty awful generally especially the Public ones.. but we will be naming and shaming them all soon.
After much consideration and debate it will be along the lines of this beautiful site..
I think you can get a 'taste' of how things are gonna be!
Must fly + get some more pics..

Is Bexhill the UK centre for Soylent Green manufacture?

GREETINGS....
Someone flew up to us the other day + said "Do you know that Bexhill is the UK manufacturing centre for Soylent Green?" We almost fell off the roof where we were perched.. WTF.. were they talking about..
We decided to invite some friends over from Shoreham for dinner, it was Thursday afterall (Bin Day in Central Bexhill..) during the course of some bag ripping a Black Tern, Terry I think said "Yeah I know all the local undertakers are in on it man..it's quite lucrative actually..
That derelict old @Tiffany Sharwoods' building is where the process gets carried out... and the stuff goes out the back door all over the UK mainly to BIG Fast food chains!
I decided there + then to never eat that S--T again..and get an allotment from Rother..
Funny what you hear about.. things going on under our noses all the time!

Yes this is the first Un-Weird post on the site..
The wonderful Keane filmed their video 'Sovereign Light Cafe' on Bexhill seafront recently.
They asked our Karate club to be involved..along with other local groups and associations.
Great day had by all..see the finished product below.

Here's a Weird one Guys + (particularly) Gals..

Some hack, Ms Zoe Williams from The Guardian Newspaper managed to get out of her office recently +  visit Bexhill. She's written a piece called,
'Rother: The most Female place in England+Wales..cutting edge journalism me-thinks..
The gist of it is that the place is full of old women...We know this already as they have no shame+ chase us all the time asking to go to tea dances or for walks on the prom..they hardly leave you alone! It's like they have raided Boots pharmacy + stolen all the oestrogen and progesterone patches..
From another angle of Bexhill she says "There just isn't enough mess to suggest habitation.."
She's obviously never stayed over from Wed to Thurs. in Central Bexhill after the SeaGulls have 'had their way' with the bin bags!
or visited Egerton Park to step in the piles of dog shit which abound..
Anyway..you can read the full article here..if you've nothing better to do!

Whoaah..Extreme Weirdness alert..Bexhill finally loses it!

Greetings..fellow Bexhillians..
We are glad to announce that Bexhill weirdness has reached new heights.literally!
The great + good @ The De La Warr Pavillion have decided in their infinite wisdom to extend the parking spaces available @ their venue. Coaches can now be left on the DLWP roof for up to 2 hrs (check with parking attendant, a Mr R. Wilson, unless you want to get a ticket).
If you use this facility please keep clear of the coach hanging over the edge. Some drunk PSV tour driver from Eastbourne managed to almost kill his passengers the other day.
But Hang on a minute lads.. there is a silver lining to every cloud.... various members of RDC, assorted 'jobs worths', crazy invalid carriage drivers, + rude shop owners could be loaded in, and the precariously perched coach could be 'helped' over the edge!
Interesting thought though..
ps We notice that no staff are using the ground floor Car park underneath previously mentioned coach..maybe they know something we don't?
pps When I was @ The De La Warr today..kept overhearing visitors talking about some 'Italian Job..' just wondered if De Paolos over the road was advertising for a new dishwasher or someting?

It was all kicking off @ The DLWP 'Ear' tonight...

Just stretching my wings this Eve...Looked up from Prom to see loads of people gathered around the 'Acoustic Ear' on DLWP patio!
Had to get closer, it's usually skateboarders..but getting nearer appeared to be a crowd engaged in Political meeting..Surely Greg Barker would never be working and husting this late in the eve.!
Alas soon discovered that it was a crew rehearsing for up-comming gig entitled,
'Mr Punch's Pleasure Palace'..a community play.
Looks cool..Here's their Twitter feed handle for info.
They need our support folks..Be there or be square!

Cerith Wyn Evans @ DLWP....No.2

Made it over to the DLWP again...There are apparently 3 spaces for Ceriths art not 4 as we originally thought.
There being no co-incidences..picked up latest edition of Bohemian Magazine in the foyer..that quirky publication from the St Leonards Bohemian Massive..Think this is No. 3..
The Edition is entitled 'Space'..
Ceriths DLWP art takeover is all about space as he elbows everyone else out of the way to open up spaces usually hidden.
Space 2 in the Upper gallery has massive light installations (I mean floor to ceiling light tubes)
If the gallery doors we closed behind you it would probably be the nearest thing to being in the fission chamber @ Dungerness Power station. Very intense, throbbing, hot.... 'Light Sex' of the future!
The 3rd space is not really a space at all..it's on the roof open to the elements. Jimi Hendrix lyrics from VoodooChild (Slight Return)...
'And if I don't meet you no more in THIS world..' are for all to see up on a scaffold tower.
The fireworks long gone as they were used on the opening night.
Maybe the http://www.battlebonfire.co.uk/  Battel Bonfire Boyes could give all those not invited to the opening show, a re-run + this time to music, on Nov. 5th.. I'll ask..
So there you have it until Sun 10th June..
We would like to say a big 'Thank You' to Joseph Young from http://artofnoises.wordpress.com/
He was working with groups of people yesterday @DLWP, walking them around in silence, and then playing back sounds to them via his tiny Binaural microphones.. Even for someone who visits the Pavillion a few times a week it gave new perspective.
It is interesting to note that when one focusses on just sound for 10-15minutes the other senses tend to expand more... Jo also talked about soundscapes..Was he a secret admirer of 'The Conversation' by Coppola!

Daleks..Yes Daleks @The De La Warr Pavillion..

Not joking...He came up to me and said he was looking for Council Tax non-payers..!
Apparently he is called Mr D Avros..and works out of the town hall 30hrs a week.
Well we've seen and heard it all now.
Give him a wide birth..his handshake is very strong!

Cerith Wyn Evans @ DLWP....

We finished our work earlier than expected yesterday..so went over to the De La Warr to spy Ceriths exhibition.
It's in 4 parts apparently so we dipped our toes in the nearest venue on the ground floor.
The studio looked sparse upon entering and was hot as hell..
Great to see the space had really been opened up and light pouring in from the North and South.
We're so used to this room being dingy, mainly given over to Antique Fairs etc.
Walked past 3 plants revolving on plates with flexes trailing..Electric Triffids? Why can't the staff water them? they look to be dying!
Past long neon lettering..not readable except in the glass behind. Asked attendant if the letters stay on @ night to guide shipping in..but said "Don't think so.."
Made our way over to a set of suspended, badly tuned Pan Pipes, hanging from ceiling, intermittently ejecting screeches...Maybe there is a 'Nautical theme' after all.
Oh nearly forgot..Projected -ve to +ve image..on North gallery wall.
Was that it for installation 1 then..just time to pop upstairs and see 2.
Damn..security personnel at top of circular landing shouting "Sorry we are closed.." bit like Next @ Glyne Gap.
We will come back soon for Part 2..
Note Try to coincide next visit with Jo Youngs Art of Noises 'Silent walk' around the exhibition on 14th April.
He might make the art more accessible..
Initial impression of  'The Love Letter..'
More of a 'Dear John..' just now..

Bexhill Bowling Alley..there but only just...!

Morning Guys + Gals Hope that we all find you well..
1st up Pic from Dan Smith that came in via Twitter Instagram yesterday..We really like the grainy quality of the scene, it's got motion and real presence..Big UP Dan...
There is  a sad overtone to this pic however for us as Bexhill citizens..our Bowling alley is under threat from M+S who want to build an 'Aircraft Hanger' shop (sic) on the site..
They want to take away some of our leisure space and replace it with more shopping!
If you want to see more pics of the Bowling Alley in the future we suggest that you see Rother District Planning Dept. ASAP.
Cheers again Dan

It's all Pebbles, Pebbles, pebbles...!

1st of all..apologies for there being no entry to our Blog for a few weeks..Work has taken us over! Well it's sorted now and there is some great Weird stuff lining up for you all. Loads of you have been e-mailing to ask where we have been...Don't worry we are back!
1st up..Pebbles..I know we live by the seaside here in Bexhill so pebbles are a part of life for us.....but this is something Weird and unusual...
Our Twitter feed picks up 'everything' Bexhill and today we have made friends with these guys...Looks very Bexhill...They are a bit mysterious and it looks like Pebbles will be appearing up and down the town soon..Click on the link for more info..http://www.findapebble.com/
They are also on Facebook and Twitter @findapebble
Talking of Pebbles...there is a guy (we forgot to ask his name..) who is doing Pebble sculptures at the Western end of the promenade next to the loos.
He seems really devoted to his art and is out in all weathers..Reminds us of the Sand Sculpters on the beaches of the Costa del Sol in Spain..He has some lovely work down there and many locals have 'adopted' him..
Try and help him out if you can, he has a contributions hat.. We really need to encourage our local Artists, Wandering Minstrels, and Creatives..They enrich our lives so much..
If anyone has any photos please send them in to  us + we can put them up here.
WAIT...we just found this on Google
WOW  He even has a name..'The Pebble Man'
Enjoy.. Must fly now..

Bobby does Bexhill...from the lovely Joseph Young @Artofnoises on Twitter

Apologies for slight absence in postings..
We have been away doing a few installations. Loads of really weird stuff in our in-box upon our return.
1st up some nice videos from Jo Young @Artofnoises (see hisTwitter feed)
Looks like he actually ran into an old 'associate' of Andy Warhol @ The De La Warr Pavillion. Someone with the Alter Ego called Bobby America.
From the Blog...'Bobby is a survivor of Andy Warhol’s (late) Factory days – a former model and bit part actor who now works as a talk show radio host; still playing off his brief association with Warhol in the mid 1980′s. Presented as part of “Warhol is Here” (2011-12)'
Enjoy....

Greg 'environmental Taliban' Barker.MP

We posted this a few weeks ago but it looks like Gregory has deleted this from his PIC folder. Anyone have a pic of 'you know who' with a turban on and/or a Kurta and Sherwanis we could use?...Failing that we need to find a brilliant creative illustrator and ask a favour!
